How to Connect iPad to Car Stereo

Sick of listening to the radio in your car? With the proper equipment, you can take your entire iPad music library with you on the road. If you have a Bluetooth-enabled stereo, you don't even need any wires. If you have an older car, there are still several ways you can get your music playing through your car speakers.

 Using Bluetooth
1、  Ensure your car stereo is compatible. You'll need a car stereo that supports Bluetooth devices and audio. Many newer stereos do this, but if you have an older car you may need to install a new stereo first or use one of the other methods in this article.
Your car stereo must support the A2DP Bluetooth profile in order to play back music from your iPad.
If your stereo has an auxiliary jack but no Bluetooth support, you can use a Bluetooth dongle that connects to the auxiliary jack.

2、 Open the Settings app on your iPad.

3、 Tap "Bluetooth" then tap the Bluetooth slider to toggle it on.

4、 Open the "Setup" menu on your car stereo. This process will vary significantly depending on the stereo brand and car manufacturer.

5、 Select the "Phone" option. Even though you are connecting your iPad, select the "Phone" option.

6、 Select "Pair". This will make the stereo begin searching for your iPad's Bluetooth signal.

7、 Select your stereo or car from your iPad's Bluetooth menu. It should appear in the list of available devices.

8、 Enter the PIN shown in the stereo's display. This is usually 0000.

9、 Wait for the connection to be made. This may take a few moments. You should see a message on your car stereo informing you that the connection has been made.

10、 Start playing music. Now that your iPad is connected, you can start playing music on your car stereo. You will need to switch to the AUX or Bluetooth input.

Using a 3.5 mm Audio Cable

1、 Connect your iPad to your car stereo.Connect one end of the cable to the audio jack of the iPad and the other end to the auxiliary port of your stereo head unit.

2、 Select the source of audio. Press the Source or Mode button on the stereo and select AUX as the source of audio.

3、 Launch iTunes.Tap the iTunes icon on the iPad, and select any music to play. You should now hear the music playing on you car stereo

 Using an FM Transmitter

1、Connect the transmitter and iPad.Use the 3.5 mm cable to connect the transmitter to the audio jack of the iPad.

If you live in an urban area, an FM transmitter may be difficult to use due to the crowded airwaves.

2、 Insert the FM transmitter power supply to the cigarette adapter inlet.

3、 Select a radio frequency on your FM transmitter.

4、  Put the radio on FM mode.Tune the radio to the same frequency that you set on the transmitter.

5、 Launch iTunes. Play any music you want to start playing on the car stereo.

 Using a Cassette Adapter

1、Insert the cassette to the tape deck. This will be located on the head unit.

2、 Connect the 3.5 mm audio cable to the iPad's audio jack.

3、 Select the source of the audio. On your head unit, press the Source or Mode button and then select Tape.

4、 Start playing the tape.  You may need to press the Play button to begin playing the tape before audio can come out of the speakers.

5Launch iTunes. Select any track to play to start enjoying music in your car.

How to Add Bluetooth to a Car

Most people spend a lot of their time on the road. If you’re one of these people, upgrading your car’s multimedia system can be one of your main priorities to make those long hours tolerable. But having too many wires for your car’s multimedia system can be bothersome and may even cause driving problems. One simple upgrade that you can do to eliminate this issue is by adding a Bluetooth to your car.

 Using a Bluetooth Head Unit
1、 Purchase an aftermarket head unit with a Bluetooth feature. Stock head units of newer car models already have Bluetooth capability. But if your car is a bit older, you can purchase these kinds of car radios for at least a hundred dollars from your local car parts store.
2Install the head unit. Aftermarket head units with Bluetooth capability are designed just like any other head units. To install, simply remove your current car radio and disconnect all the wires behind it. Then, following the same wiring diagram or what is instructed in your new head unit’s manual, connect the wires to the new radio and slide it back to the head unit bay.
Better yet, have the new head unit installed by the store where you purchased it from. If you got yours from a local store and not over the Internet, installation should also come with the price tag you paid.
3、 Connect your Bluetooth enabled device to your new head unit. Most head units have a quick-access button on its panel that you can use to instantly enable its Bluetooth. Once it’s switched on, you can start connecting your mobile devices like smartphones and MP3 players to your radio.

Using a Bluetooth Receiver
1、 Purchase a Bluetooth receiver. If you don’t want to replace your head unit, you can simply add a Bluetooth receiver to it. You can buy one from your local computer and electronics store or from the Internet starting at $25.

2、Connect the Bluetooth receiver to your car. Receivers are very easy to connect; all you need is a 3.5 mm audio cable with two male ends (just like the ones at the end of your ordinary ear/headphones), which should already come with the receiver package. Just plug one end of the cable to the Bluetooth receiver and connect the other to your car radio’s 3.5 mm audio jack port and you’re good to go.
Note that your car head unit should have the feature to play audio contents using the 3.5 mm audio input port, otherwise you won’t be able to use the receiver.3、

3、Connect your Bluetooth-enabled device to your Bluetooth receiver. Press the Power button on the receiver to switch it on and your mobile device should be able to detect and connect to it. You can start playing music from your MP3 players or even accept phone calls.

Using a Bluetooth Car Kit

1、Purchase a Bluetooth car kit. If your head unit can’t use a Bluetooth receiver, you can always use a separate Bluetooth car kit. You can purchase one from your local car accessories store or from the Internet starting at $50.

2、 Plug in your car kit. Unlike Bluetooth receivers, a car kit can function all on its own. Just connect it to your car’s cigarette lighter port for power, or if it comes with rechargeable batteries, you can just clip it on your windshield visor.

3Connect your Bluetooth-enabled device to your Bluetooth car kit. Press the Power button on the kit to switch it on and your mobile device should be able to detect and connect to it. You can start playing music from your MP3 players or even accept phone calls.
